More on the Inn of the Sixth Happiness

This film is the story of a Liverpool (my neck of the woods) missionary, Gladys Aylward who led a group of orphans across the mountains in China to safety. Excellent film. Starring Ingrid Bergman as the heroine. The film is shot in Snowdonia with British Chinese as extras; a lot of them from Liverpool. It was shot in 1958 in the summer and shown in 1959.

St Aloysius Gonzaga

Our Lady Help of Christians was dedicated to St Aloysius in 1939. See this link for more details about this Saint:

An artist in the family

Well, actually we have several artists in the family as several nieces and nephews are in dance and theatre and art. But my youngest is also at art college and this is a piece that her and a fellow student put together.

11th Sunday - Year A- "We are His people; the sheep of His flock".

Bishop John Hine celebrated our Confirmation Mass at 11.00 am. There were 19 young candidates including two polish students receiving the Holy Spirit in confirmation. It was an important event for the whole parish. After Mass there was an opportunity to speak to His Excellency and have refreshments in the Hall and garden. My two year old grandson associates Church with cake afterwards and so half an hour in to the service he was saying - "cake now". But then he slept for a bit. Sometimes he wakes up in time for a Blessing at Communion (my grandson - not the Bishop!).

CONFIRMATIONS Bishop John Hine will be giving the Sacrament of Confirmation here to our candidates next Sunday 15 June during 11am Mass.

We welcome Bishop John Hine who is kindly coming to confirm 19 of our young parishioners. Remember that the whole parish is invited to this Mass not just the candidates and their families. It is a time of grace for the parish and an opportunity to meet with our local bishop.
