A Whole New World

Brave New World

Sky News reports that a scientist who has a chip implanted in his hand has a 'computer virus'.

Dr Mark Gasson, a cybernetics expert at the University of Reading, has had a computer chip implanted in his hand.

The chip is programmed to open security doors to his lab - and ensure only he is able to switch on and use his mobile phone.

But Dr Gasson deliberately infected the chip with a computer virus, which was then automatically transmitted to the lab security system.

The virus on his chip is benign. But malicious computer code could give criminals access to a building.

Dr Gasson says his experiment also exposes the vulnerability of chips now routinely implanted in patients.

It is easy to see the benefits and perils of computer microchips for security in the future.

What Every Catholic Needs to Know about Hell.

Receive the Power

Hell II

We can cleanse our souls and our consciences by repenting of our sins and going to confession, making reparation and receiving Jesus in the Holy Eucharist.

CCC 1035 The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, "eternal fire."617 The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs.

CCC 1037 God predestines no one to go to hell;620 for this, a willful turning away from God (a mortal sin) is necessary, and persistence in it until the end. In the Eucharistic liturgy and in the daily prayers of her faithful, the Church implores the mercy of God, who does not want "any to perish, but all to come to repentance":621

Grant us your peace in this life,…

Hell also is a choice that we make. God is infinite goodness and mercy and also justice.
Catechism of the Catholic Church
1033 We cannot be united with God unless we freely choose to love him. But we cannot love God if we sin gravely against him, against our neighbour or against ourselves: "He who does not love remains in death. Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him." Our Lord warns us that we shall be separated from him if we fail to meet the serious needs of the poor and the little ones who are his brethren. To die in mortal sin without repenting and accepting God's merciful love means remaining separated from him for ever by our own free choice. This state of definitive self-exclusion from communion with God and the blessed is called "hell."

1034 Jesus often speaks of "Gehenna" of "the unquenchable fire" reserved for those who to the end of their lives refuse to believe and…

What happens when we die?

“For the word of God is living and operative and sharper than any two edged sword and penetrating to the division of soul and spirit, both of joints and marrow, and a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is not a creature unapparent before Him; but all things are naked and laid bare to His eye, with whom we have to do.” (Heb 4, 12-13)

Catechism of the Catholic Church says:

678 Following in the steps of the prophets and John the Baptist, Jesus announced the judgment of the Last Day in his preaching. Then will the conduct of each one and the secrets of hearts be brought to light. Then will the culpable unbelief that counted the offer of God's grace as nothing be condemned. Our attitude to our neighbour will disclose acceptance or refusal of grace and divine love. On the Last Day Jesus will say: "Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.”

Leviticus 26:36 'As for those of you who may be left, I will also bring weakness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies. And the sound of a driven leaf will chase them, and even when no one is pursuing they will flee as though from the sword, and they will fall.

But with God and Jesus we have peace.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

John 14:1 "Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.”

John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

Faith part 2

Faith is a response to God and His calling us as He reveals Himself to us and makes Himself known in our daily lives.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church 1: 27 states: The desire for God is written in the human heart, because man is created by God and for God; and God never ceases to draw man to himself.
Only in God will he find the truth and happiness he never stops searching for:
The dignity of man rests above all on the fact that he is called to communion with God.

This invitation to converse with God is addressed to man as soon as he comes into being. For if man exists it is because God has created him through love, and through love continues to hold him in existence. He cannot live fully according to truth unless he freely acknowledges that love and entrusts himself to his creator.

• Does God Really Care About Us?
Perhaps the question should be ‘does God really care about me?’ – because that is what we are really interested in – how does God relate to us and our lives.

I Knew God Would Take Care of Me when I was baptized in the Roman Catholic Church. They are really nice people and they accepted me with an open heart.

"And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent," (John 17:3, NASB).

A television advert giving advice on unplanned pregnancy and explaining how to get an abortion will be aired for the first time next week.

Channel 4 will show the commercial, paid for by the Marie Stopes organisation, next Monday, well past the watershed at 10.10pm.

Anti-abortion campaign Pro Life does not approve.

"The purpose of an abortion commercial is clearly to 'sell' abortion and it will not provide full information about foetal development, the abortion procedure itself, the health risks which abortion poses for women, let alone the alternatives to abortion," the charity said.

"This is hardly conducive to making the 'informed sexual health choices' which Marie Stopes claims to provide."

Breakdown of a Moral Society

Pope Paul VI in Humanae Vitae:
Responsible men can become more deeply convinced of the truth of the doctrine laid down by the Church on this issue if they reflect on the consequences of methods and plans for artificial birth control. Let them first consider how easily this course of action could open wide the way for marital infidelity and a general lowering of moral standards. Not much experience is needed to be fully aware of human weakness and to understand that human beings—and especially the young, who are so exposed to temptation—need incentives to keep the moral law, and it is an evil thing to make it easy for them to break that law. Another effect that gives cause for alarm is that a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom h…
